WINTER ACTIVITIES
With lots of sunshine and powder snow, the Arlberg is one of the most attractive ski areas to be found anywhere. In addition to skiing and snowboarding, Lech and Zürs also offer a selection of winter sporting activities such as cross-country skiing, tobogganing and ice skating. 305 km of ski pistes, 200 km of off-piste powder runs plus 87 lifts and cable cars guarantee exceptional skiing and snowboarding for beginners, intermediate and experienced winter sports fanatics
And if you prefer as slightly less hectic pace, there are 26 km of cross-country tracks to enjoy, as well as countless winter footpaths through the delightful snow-covered countryside to keep you active.
If the weather is bad, we recommend taking a winter walk, maybe into the Zuger valley. After approx. one hour’s walk you can reward yourself with a wonderful plate of Kaiserschmarren (chopped pancakes) in the Gasthaus Älpele with our eldest son Franz Josef Walch.
And let’s not forget the nearby Lech Sportpark, where you can enjoy badminton, climbing, fitness training and much more besides. You will also find lots of leisure possibilities both here in the hotel and in the village itself, to boost your holiday enjoyment. Just ask us any time for suggestions.
Skiing on the Arlberg.
305 kilometres of spectacular ski runs offer winter sports aficionados almost unlimited possibilities of exploring the legendary Arlberg in all its diversity, on or off piste. From St. Anton, St. Christoph, Stuben, Zürs and Lech to Schröcken and Warth, come and explore this unique winter paradise with its dramatic peaks and stunning valleys. Welcome to the Arlberg!
Cross-country skiing
In Lech visitors benefit from the free use of an extensive network of over 27 kilometres of well-prepared cross-country tracks for training and recreation purposes – for both classical and skating styles. Flat terrain and gentle climbs, decisive mountain sprints and brief descents – in addition to the ski area, Ski Arlberg offers an extensive and varied network of cross-country tracks.

Tobogganing
A descent on a Zipfel bobsleigh on the illuminated toboggan run from Oberlech to Lech is a real adventure. The 1.2 km long bobsleigh run winds its way down through the woods in a series of sharp demanding curves.
In just 4 minutes the Oberlech cable car brings adventurers to the starting point. Bobsleighs are available from the hotel, and can also be hired from the Oberlech cable car station and sports shops.

Horse-drawn sleigh rides.
Discover Lech’s romantic side, and enjoy a ride in a horse-drawn sleigh. On request your sleigh will pick you up at the hotel, or by the “covered bridge”.

Snow-shoe walking.
A snow-shoe walk is a superb way of experiencing the Lech’s natural surroundings. Unspoilt countryside as far as the eye can see, fresh mountain air, gentle exercise and the chance to relax and slow down. We thoroughly recommend joining a guided walk to discover the loveliest routes through the Lech mountain landscape.

Wildlife watching.
Wild animals, especially the indigenous red deer, are shy forest dwellers which are normally glimpsed very rarely. During the hard winter months however, when food is in short supply, both red and roe deer will tentatively approach built-up areas and overcome a lot of their fear of humans. The dusk feeding sessions thus provide a great opportunity to observe majestic stags and roe deer “up close and personal”.
Experience this very special encounter from the cover of a hide. Guided wildlife walks are held twice a week to view the feeding sessions.
